Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions ?
When is the best time to photograph my newborn baby?
My favorite time to photograph newborns is 7-21 days old. I can photograph your newborn up to 8 weeks old so if you have missed that window it isn’t too late!
When is the best time to book my newborn session?
I typically book very quickly. I recommend reaching out as soon as possible to reserve your spot on my calendar. I only take a limited number of newborns each month. However please feel free to reach out even if you didn’t book in advance. Openings do occasionally pop up based on when the baby arrives.
How does booking work?
Once you are ready to book I will email you a proposal where you can select your collection, pay a 30% retainer, and sign a contract. Once you have done all three steps you will have a spot reserved.
How does scheduling my newborn session work? When do I reach out after I have already booked?
Once your baby has arrived I request that you reach out to me within 48 hours or as soon as possible so we can select a date and time for your session. If you are scheduled for a c-section or induction you can schedule your newborn session date and time in advance.
What is the typical turnaround time?
After your session, you can expect a proof / viewing gallery within 3 -5 business days. From there you will select your favorite images for me to edit. Once you have made your selections you can expect to receive your final gallery within two weeks.
How many images will I receive and can I have the unedited images?
The amount of images you receive will depend on the photography collection you have selected. Additional images can be purchased ‘a la carte’ or in digital packages.
Editing is a part of the art and unedited images are not a true representation of my work, therefore I am unable to supply unedited files.
What should I wear?
I am so very happy you asked! For studio sessions, I highly recommend wearing neutrals. Whites, creams, Ivory, and soft browns photograph best in the studio. Wearing light colors will give your photos that light airy dreamy look. Don’t be afraid to add texture, lace always looks good on mom as well as a long flowy dress. I will send over a style guide to help you put together the perfectly selected wardrobe and you are always welcome to email me for assistance.
Do you style each session?
YES! I have a massive collection of newborn items for your session. No need to shop for the baby. I have outfits, swaddles, bonnets, and headbands. I will design/style the setups based on a questionnaire that you will receive. Everything is thoughtfully set up before you even arrive at your session.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
Newborn sessions take place in my home studio located in Norton Shores, MI
In-home lifestyle sessions are also available by request but may require an additional travel fee.
